Steve Drummond

Steve-Drummond-sq too smallSteve’s career has been at the cutting-edge of international energy infrastructure and environmental finance for more than twenty years. His career is built on knowledge of professional engineering, energy markets and finance and encompasses

  • leadership roles as CEO
  • corporate finance, as a Partner at PwC
  • project finance, M&A and equity investment
  • IPP project and commercial management, and
  • power plant engineering, design, construction and operations.

Steve is primarily interested in green technologies and is particularly adept at ensuring the financeability of new offerings through manipulating the engineering, commercial and financial structuring to ensure the optimum outcome.

Chris Woolhouse

Screen Shot 2013-11-05 at 15.02.44Chris has over 15 years of experience working in international law firms and finance institutions in the City of London including Clifford Chance, Hogan Lovells and BLP. He has extensive transactional experience in emerging market jurisdictions and across a wide range of asset classes including energy, infrastructure and real estate.

Earlier in his career, Chris studied Environmental Law to masters level at the LSE and worked in the European Commission in the Directorate General for Environment and Nuclear Safety.

At Bainton Capital, Chris brings legal and finance skills and experience to the team, together with a commitment to its objectives, and a passion for emerging markets and the renewables sector.

Rex Kempcke

Screen Shot 2013-11-05 at 15.02.53Rex has 20 years experience in retail banking, treasury and commodity trading at Commerzbank, J.P. Morgan and ABB. Through his interest in entrepreneurship and new markets he got involved in building up the global business incubation unit for ABB, subsequently spinning off a company which was pioneering in the implementation of the European emissions trading scheme.

Rex continued his career in the climate change sector by joining EcoSecurties, a leading start-up company in developing carbon reduction projects worldwide and more recently as director in environmental markets team of BNP Paribas.

At Bainton Capital, Rex applies his banking skills across the patch, but his particular interest is in new investment forms such as crowd funding.

Regulation and commercial structuring

The group has particular strengths in regulation and commercial structuring of power projects, and develops power projects both on its own account and for clients.

Bainton Capital works with Carbon Catalysts on different projects, and in particular draws on them for their expertise in renewable, environmental and energy regulation, power trading and contract structures.

The company is managed by highly qualified and experienced commercial, technical and financial personnel from the international energy, banking and engineering sectors and focuses solely on power generation and transmission for a host of governments and blue chip enterprises including energy development companies, lending institutions, mining and resource companies.

Bainton Capital uses ARC for its specialist engineering expertise and encyclopaedic knowledge of power generation technologies. ARC also has a banking unit in Hong Kong, with strong distribution capacity in Asia.
