What we do

Bainton Capital: developing and financing renewable energy

Bainton Capital provides consultancy and financing services to developers, investors, lenders and other parties involved in renewable energy projects and technologies.

Collectively, the team has decades of global experience in developing, structuring, engineering and financing energy and infrastructure projects, and advising the parties engaged in them. We have worked with all the main renewable technologies and the full spectrum of traditional financing techniques, including non-recourse debt, 100% debt-financing structured finance, securitisation and Islamic funding structures. We are innovating with “new” financial approaches such as direct finance (e.g. crowdfunding), mini bonds, and climate bonds. We also understand the requirements of ESG (environmental, social, governance) driven impact investments.

Risk mitigation is key to successful funding. One of Bainton Capital’s key strengths is a deep understanding of project risk and how to mitigate it. Bainton Capital has a strong track-record in adjusting the commercial, engineering, financing and insurance of a project structure to ensure fundability, and negotiating those changes with the parties involved.

Bainton Capital has relationships with investors and funders across the full spectrum of technologies, jurisdictions and project scale. For specialist issues, such as regulatory and power engineering, we bring in experts from our partner organisations.

Bainton Capital delivers value to its clients in different ways. We can simply introduce finance. We can act as external adviser, but we also work in other ways, for example as part of the development team for project developers, a supplement to the internal team at an investment fund, or as external due diligence adviser to a lender. A list of our core services is shown opposite.
